We did not get a survey on this property when we bought it 12 years ago. It was a bank foreclosure and we knew they wouldn’t do anything to correct any issues. Good reason, right? Well let’s see. Actually we didn’t know we were getting the 3 lots bordering the house until we went to closing. Now things are changing and we are splitting off the 3 lots from the house and asking for a variance to the building code, which requires a survey. In the process we find a few issues to correct. Better to correct them before a buyer does inspections. This could take 30-60 days to correct and a buyer probably wouldn’t wait that long. We would loose a contract.
